In March of this year, Amerigroup Louisiana, a leading managed care provider to the Healthy Louisiana Medicaid program, and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana (Blue Cross), the state’s largest and oldest health insurance company, received approval to enter into a partnership to collaboratively serve the Healthy Louisiana Medicaid program. In support of this venture, Amerigroup is announcing that it will rebrand its Louisiana Medicaid plan to Healthy Blue to reflect the strength of its new partnership, and extend brand stability and recognition of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield name to its Medicaid members. This name change will take effect on Sept. 1, 2017, and welcome Amerigroup Louisiana Medicaid members into the family of more than 1.5 million Louisianans who are covered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana.
