MetroPlus Health Plan, Inc., which began operations in 1985, is a prepaid health services plan certified under Section 4403-a of the New York Public Health Law. The Plan offers government-sponsored health insurance including Medicaid, Family Health Plus, Child Health Plus, Partnership in Care, an HIV Special Needs Plan (SNP), the largest SNP of its kind in the U.S., and MetroPlus Gold, for HHC employees. As of January 2008, MetroPlus began offering Medicare Advantage programs including MetroPlus Medicare Advantage, MetroPlus Medicare Advantage Select and MetroPlus Medicare Advantage Partnership in Care, for eligible people with HIV/AIDS. In 2008, MetroPlus was rated the number one Medicaid Managed Care health plan in New York City for the third consecutive year, based on indicators chosen by the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) and published in the NYSDOH 2007 Consumer’s Guide to Medicaid Managed Care in New York City. As of June 1, 2008, total MetroPlus membership was 326,898. |
