| AHIP Coverage: ICYMI - Consumers and Employers Prefer Smaller Provider Networks Over Higher Premiums |
The health care reform law adds new benefits and brings new costs for consumers and employers. Establishing high-value provider networks is one way health plans can help mitigate the cost impact as these new changes take effect. A recent Morning Consult poll as well as a new study in Health Affairs provides further evidence that consumers and employers prefer plans with lower premiums and small provider networks to those with broader networks but higher premiums.

| AHIP Coverage: ICYMI - New Report Shows Medicare Advantage Payment Cuts Disrupting Seniors’ Coverage |
Data from a new study by Kaiser Family Foundation provides further evidence that the ACA’s Medicare Advantage payment cuts and new health insurance tax are disrupting coverage for the millions of seniors and people with disabilities who rely on this program for their health security. “The uptick in premiums for enrollees who do not switch plans, and the increase in average out-of-pocket limits, may be a response by insurers to the payment reforms included in the ACA,” the study says.
