UC Davis Medical Center ranks as the top hospital in Sacramento with nine high-performing medical specialties, according to the new "Best Hospitals metro area rankings" published March 29 by U.S. News & World Report.
Of all 19 hospitals in the Sacramento metropolitan area, which includes Arden-Arcade and Roseville, U.S. News ranked the medical center and three other hospitals for their high-performing specialties.
The publication recognizes UC Davis Medical Center in the following areas: cancer; ear, nose and throat; geriatrics; gynecology; heart and heart surgery; kidney disorders; neurology and neurosurgery; orthopaedics; pulmonology; rehabilitation, and urology.
The other Sacramento-area health systems listed included Sutter Medical Center with four specialties, Mercy General with two specialties and Mercy San Juan with one high-performing specialty.
"The results of this new survey reflect the good work and dedication of our hospital's health-care teams," said Ann Madden Rice, chief executive officer at UC Davis Medical Center. "The rankings are one of several ways we assess our continuous effort to provide the very best in patient care and health outcomes."
UC Davis was the only local hospital to rank among the nation's top 50 hospitals for its excellence in orthopaedics and cancer.
