From its beginning in 1990, Crozer-Keystone Health System located minutes from Philadelphia, has been the dominant provider of health care in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, northern Delaware, and part of western New Jersey. The population covered represents almost a million people.
Crozer-Keystone provides a full spectrum of wellness, prevention, acute care, rehabilitation and restorative care to the community. The health system comprises five hospitals, a comprehensive physician network of primary-care and specialty practices, and the Healthplex® Sports Club. These facilities house a Level 2 trauma center, a regional burn center, two regional cancer centers, a fertility center, a sleep-disorders center, and a U.S. Olympic Committee designated sports science and technology center.
Crozer-Keystone Health System was created in 1990 with the joining of Delaware County Memorial Hospital, Springfield Hospital, and Crozer-Chester Medical Center. Sacred Heart Hospital joined the system in 1992 and was renamed Community Hospital. In 1996, the Springfield Hospital location expanded with the addition of the Healthplex Campus, a comprehensive health, wellness, and fitness facility. The system’s newest member, Taylor Hospital, joined the system in 1997.
With more than 1,100 physicians and 7,100 total employees, Crozer-Keystone is the largest employer in Delaware County. In recent years, the health system has been honored by health care and civic organizations for providing advancement opportunities for women, as well as for promoting employee health through an interactive education program.
With almost 400 miles of fiber optic cable linking its facilities and physicians, Crozer-Keystone is a well-integrated delivery system. Evidence of this can be seen in Crozer-Keystone’s telemedicine operation, its integrated lifetime clinical record, and its award-winning Child Health Reminder System. The health system became one of only six health care organizations in the nation to be honored with a VHA Leadership Award, which the health system earned for its Evidence-Based Medicine Program.
A leader in community health, Crozer-Keystone provides services and programs that meet the medical and social needs of thousands of Delaware County’s residents each year. The American Hospital Association awarded Crozer-Keystone with a Award for its excellence and innovation in community health.
