Professional Credential Verification Service (PCVS) was founded in 1992. A Michigan non-profit corporation, PCVS is governed by the Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) and American Physicians Capital, Inc. (AP Capital). Medical Advantage Group (MAG) manages the activities of PCVS under the leadership of the PCVS board of directors, which consists of members and staff of MSMS and AP Capital. MAG is a for-profit consulting company that, in addition to managing PCVS, also manages Physician's Review Organization of Michigan (PROM) and provides administrative services and consulting to hospitals, physicians' organizations, individual physician practices, and purchasers.
Since 1992, PCVS has verified the credentials of thousands of health care professionals on behalf of hospitals, physician practices, managed care organizations, and other health care organizations.
PCVS services include the verification of licensure, education and training, board certification, malpractice history, liability coverage, DEA, state controlled substance license, hospital privileges, professional references, work history, and Medicare/Medicaid sanctions.
PCVS is accredited through Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC).
